8/26/08 - Mufasa came to us a few weeks ago and we are fostering him for the REMC rescue.

Unfortunately, it appears he was the product of a puppymill. He has a microchip, but we cannot
locate the breeder, nor will the microchip distributor give out the name of the breeder, but they have
searched and cannot find them - most likely better for him in the long run.

He was "rescued" at age 1 year from a dog hoarder and was the only mastiff amongst 48 or so dogs
somewhere in Washington. The family that took him in has had him for the last 2 years. They gave
him up: (1) single mother with five young children (who he was raised with and good with); (2) he
likes to play with their painfully dysplastic female mastiff, also a rescue, and she gets grouchy about
playing; (3) he whines when he wants to come inside....sigh.

When I picked him up he was very skinny; backbone and ribs showing, but she said she fed him.
hmmm!

Thankfully, he is heart worm negative. He was neutered a bit over a week ago, is current on all his
vaccinations, gets along with my Chis and Ophelia. O is very playful. Today 8/26/08 he played
wonderfully with boy my neutered labradors, Dreamer and Ophelia with no issues at all.  I am very
impressed and encouraged by this as he was a bit standoffish with the boys at first.  He is getting for
comfortable and finding his happy place.

Kevin and I have spent one-on-one time with him, and he is a love, not overly pushy but so gentle
and calm. What a very sweet boy! He loves both men and woman and does not show shyness or a
preference. He does have longer hair than any of my mastiffs. He has a hot spot on the back of his
upper thigh/tail area that is healing well and the hair is growing back.

Here are some pictures. If you are interested, please give me a call. This boy deserves a placement
that will once and for all treat him the way he should be treated - a house dog, when outside, no
cages, free to run in a open but well fenced yard.
