We are fanciers of the true Mastiff, sometimes referred to as the "English Mastiff" or "Old English Mastiff". This is
not to be confused with the "American Mastiff" which is a cross between an Anatolian Shepherd Dog and an
English Mastiff. The "American Mastiff" is not recognized by the AKC as is the "Mastiff".

Important Information About Harmony Mastiffs - Please Read

1.  Harmony Mastiffs is not a business nor do we EVER make any sort of a profit from our
breedings, nor was Harmony Mastiffs created to be a business or to profit from the breeding of
Mastiffs.  Harmony Mastiffs is a website about our mastiff family, our love of the breed, showing
success and chats about past breedings.  Raising healthy, well adjusted mastiffs is a VERY
expensive and time consuming hobby.  It is also very rewarding.

2.  Harmony Mastiffs website was created to share our fur family with the general public, to
share our knowledge, to share knowledge found on the many links we have throughout our site
and also for other mastiff fanciers to view our site as we enjoy our lives with our mastiffs.

3.  Harmony Mastiffs participates on a regular basis and supports rescue heavily.  We have
helped re`home close to 20 mastiffs (and a few mixed breeds) in the last 3 years.  I am the
rescue volunteer of the Redwood Empire Mastiff Club and will also be helping with our parent
club "The Mastiff Club of America" on the rescue front.

4.  Harmony Mastiffs does breed on an occasional and selective basis.   The last two breedings
we did were August of 2009 and June of 2011.  We do struggle at times with breeding when
there are so many dogs in shelters that need homes.  We do though realize that there will
always be folks who want a certain type of purebred dog.  In our case, that is the Mastiff.  So, we
feel it necessary to have our website visible and accessible to the general public in order to
educate and offer quality, health tested, time tested, well pedigreed, purebred Mastiffs for those
that are looking for a puppy.  With that said, our breeding of Mastiffs will potentially only be
every 2 years, if even that often and puppies placed very selectively.

5.  With regard to breeding and puppies ~ the only time Harmony Mastiffs chooses to do a
breeding is when we feel we have a quality, fully health tested, female and there have been
inquires by the public of us for a puppy.  At that time, we would potentially choose a breeding
for that female by spending a large amount of time studying and planning for her breeding.  We
study males from all over our country, in our own breeding program and abroad.  A typical
breeding with a male out of state using fresh chilled semen can cost anywhere from $2000.00 to
$3500.00 just for the breeding, and there is no guarantee that puppies will be conceived.  We
strive to breed the best to the best in order to better the quality of the purebred mastiff.  While as
of 2012 we will be breeding VERY infrequently, this standard of breeding above will never be
sacrificed.

6.  After we have done a breeding and confirmed it.... puppies are born, then we begin our
evaluation process of the litter and screening of  applicants.

7.   We are not "show snobs," however we care immensely about the breed and the lives of our
dogs and we will be there for you throughout the life of your dog and beyond as friends,
mentors, support whenever you need it.  We do not take placement of our dogs lightly at all.  We
do also love to show our dogs... you can see that here on our site.  It is our very expensive
hobby!

8.  Why do we want you to read through our website:  Because we've taken so much time to put
our heart and soul into every page that it is important that you know as much about us and the
breed as you can before you even write to us.  I know how exciting it is to decide on a breed and
want to jump into puppy hunting but please read our site.  I always know who hasn't by the
questions asked in emails or on the telephone.  Sometimes I get two sentence emails such as
"are your dogs purebred and how much are they?"  Clearly, that email came from someone who
had not read my site.  I don't and won't respond to those emails, or if I do I simply state that our
wait list is full~

9.  If you are serious about a mastiff pup, please read our site, call, email.  If we don't have a
puppy for you, we will help you find a puppy from a reputable breeder ~  reputable breeders
work together to protect our breed.

10.  Always consider a rescue, be it a purebred Mastiff, a Mastiff mix (being careful with what
they are mixed with) and also the shelter dog.  Make your choice to bring a purebred Mastiff  or
any animal into your home with time, patience and careful consideration.

Thank you so very much for reading this page... it took time to write~
