ABOUT US

Harmony is what we experience when we are with our mastiffs thus, it has become the name of our Mastiff home.
The picture above is a beautiful and natural visual of harmony and one I took on a sailing vacation to the British
Virgin Islands from the back of our catamaran in the spring of 2007. The mastiff in the picture is George,
Dreamer's litter mate brother.  Please visit all our pages to see and learn about all of our dogs as we move
forward on our mastiff journey.

Our family consists of humans and animals.  That's right our animals are considered part of our family.  My

ex-
husband had wanted a Mastiff since his early twenties. When we endeavored to build a home on our property
in the spring of 2002, he said "Hey, now I can have a Mastiff!" I immediately started doing research on the breed
and contacted a few breeders to chat. As we soon came to realize, building a house is no easy task. When the
house was done, the landscaping started (and we were the workers ;-)). Before we knew it and could take a
breath, it was three years later. Finally, we were ready to re-visit the dream of having a Mastiff in our family.

Our very first experience with a Mastiff was from a rescue organization that dealt with mixed breeds. Our first boy
was a Mastiff and Fila Brasiliero mix. We thought it was perfect that we could give this boy a home and have a
Mastiff (or actually what we thought was a Mastiff) at the same time. He was three years old, needed to be
neutered and tested positive for heart worm. There were a few signs of aggression that concerned us shortly after
he came to live with us but we took note and hoped it was due to all the changes he had recently gone through.
The Fila is known for their leeriness towards strangers and for their very, very protective nature over their families.
They also have a very high prey drive as they were bred to hunt large game. So, we had this wonderful, docile,
loving dog that was leery of my son's friends and eventually took down one of our livestock.  During a six month
period, we realized that since we did not socialize him from birth that our home environment left too many
opportunities for someone or something to get badly hurt by him. We contacted a large breed specific rescue and
they worked quickly and closely with us to re-home our boy. Our hearts had been touched by the Mastiff that was
inside him. We knew we had to have another in our life and that we needed to have a puppy from a quality
breeder of good, sound, well tempered purebred Mastiffs. Thus, our research began. I spent a lot more time
learning about pedigrees, breeders, more about the Mastiff breed characteristics, temperament, etc.

In March of 2006, we brought home our first Mastiff - M
onty. Before our puppy was ready to come home I had
been a spectator at several shows and definitely was infected with the show bug. This was an added plus to the
long awaited Mastiff that would in a short time forever change our hearts and lives.

Our daily lives revolve around our children, home, our animals and our property. Take some time and please visit
all of our pages and you will read how our life with mastiffs has evolved quickly over the last few years.

December 31, 2011 - An About Us Update:  Many changes have taken place in our lives since I created this
website and wrote this page.  I have become a grandma to triplets which is one of the most wonderful blessings in
my life.  My focus is changing in that I will be showing my mastiffs on a less frequent, lower volume level rather
than the very competitive level that I was introduced to me when I first started showing.  There was a time when I
hauled a 40 foot fifth wheel toy hauler to 2-3 day, even 10 day long dogs shows.  I would line up 4-5 crates next to
the ring and show the dogs. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun at first, then it seemed that it became more work
than fun.  Priorities and times have changed.  I am also not affiliated with any other breeders as I have been in the
past.
As well, I have had my fill of club politics and therefore by choice do not belong to the Mastiff Club of
America or the Redwood Empire Mastiff Club any longer.  I will continue to belong to the Mastiff Club of Victoria as
it is a small and fun club to be part of - even though it is across the pond.  I have relocated to the
San Lorenzo
Valley (Santa Cruz Mountains) .  I
have also stepped down as the rescue coordinator for the REMC but will still
help with referrals and connecting folks as much as I can.  I just can no longer foster rescues.
 I will only breed a
litter once every other year.

Please contact us if you want to talk mastiffs, always consider a rescued mastiff and if you do desire a purebred,
please give us a call so we can help you find the right breeder and a health
y puppy~
